Ambat is an ancient aristocratic Nair Tharavad of Kerala. Located at Chittur in the Palakkad District of Kerala State, Ambat family members have, over the last two centuries, branched out and distinguished themselves in different fields.
More than 200 years ago, Ambat Tharavad moved from Ayilur Village, where it was originally located, to Chittur.
